Chapter 13

In chapter thirteen of Jimmy Santiago Baca’s A Place to Stand, Baca release date is finally approaching. However, the Parole Board confuses him with another prisoner that is on trying for parole and have done many offenses. Baca is starting to crack; he has made threats to an violent inmate and has promised a feminine inmate that he would take care of him. Once he was further denied his release, he attempted to kill the violent inmate. However, Mascara reaches him first, hoping that he did Baca a favor. Later on, Baca is finally released from prison. As Baca looks out the bus window, he wonders what the Earth holds for him.
